One Size Fits All

The world's only Grand Duchy, Luxembourg is a constitutional monarchy neighbouring Belgium, France, and Germany. Covering less than 1,000 square miles, Luxembourg is home to nearly 500,000 residents, with about a fifth of these individuals residing in or near Luxembourg City. Foreign residents represent more than a third of Luxembourg's population.

A Safe Haven

Luxembourg ranks as the world's top city for personal safety and security, according to a 2005 Quality of Life survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, a leading consulting organization with offices worldwide.

Weather or Not

With a moderate climate, Luxembourg is a great destination any time of year. However, be prepared for a bit of rain. Traditionally, "in-season" has been defined as anytime from mid-April to mid-October. Peak season is July and August.

Speak Up

Three primary languages are spoken in Luxembourg: Letzebuergesch or Luxembourgish (recognized as the national language), German, and French. English is also spoken, primarily in the city and its surrounding areas.

Plane & Simple

Luxembourg's airport, Findel Airport, is located 4 miles east of the city. Luxair, the national airline and several other airlines, are operating flights to 21 European destinations: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, London, Madrid, Milan, Nice, Paris, Palma, Porto, Prague, Rome, Turin, Venice, Vienna, Zurich.

At the present time, there are no non-stop or direct flights between North America and Luxembourg.

On the road again

As Luxembourg is in the heart of Europe, major highways from all over Europe are crossing the country.

Bank on It

Luxembourg residents have the highest income per capital of any country in the world.

Luxembourg has the greatest concentration of banks in the European community. More than 220 banks, along with the European Investment Bank headquarters, are here. A strong steel and iron industry further contribute to the country's healthy economy, as does agriculture, tourism, plastic and rubber, and electrical equipment.
