PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT

Producing in Luxembourg

Luxembourg is a country with a population of 500,000 and a domestic market so small no local film could ever be made on an economically viable basis if it purely appealed to this minuscule home audience. For about 20 years Luxembourg has established one of the most generous financial regimes for filmmakers, which have attracted inward productions. Combining funds with other film industries and their incentives, like Belgium, Germany, France, UK, etc. …, has proven as a valuable tool regarding the improvement of the production quality and value. Most of the local producers are tending to concentrate on small and medium-budget films and co-productions with other small countries. At the same time Delux Productions managed to set up high-budget films by finding and involving private equity investors.

Luxembourg has many conventions with other countries like for instance with Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, and Quebec.

Most of the population is fluent in French, German and English and the Film Crews in Luxembourg are highly skilled.

Links with the German, French and Belgian motorway networks ring the capital city and provides easy access to the rest of Europe. The airport, with a new state-of the-art terminal, is just a ten-minute drive from the city centre and serves all major European destinations, while the city's main railway station is now linked to France's TGV high-speed rail network.
